G. Schulte
c. 1860 - c. 1877
Henry Schulte arrived in Houston and worked at Gabel's brewery
in Houston for about ten years when he founded his own brewery with a
partner, presumably his brother, whose name began
with G. In 1866, Henry began a career in the wholesale grocery business
in Galvestion, until 1873 when he managed the business of H. Marwitz while
he was in Europe. In 1877 Schulte retired completely, and left the brewery
under his brother's management. He returned to Germany where he died in
November of that year. His obituary said the brewery was still operating.
-Thanks to reader David Hornburg, who
supplied me with copies of obituaries of Peter Gabel, Henry Schulte and
John Wagner. There was quite a bit of information there. Thanks, David.
